Sunday evening I boarded the plane for Ireland. I will be spending the next month and a half here as an intern for the Dublin City University Health and Human Performacne laboratory. SO COOL!!! Any ways my plane was delayed an extra hour and a half yet I somehow still managed to make it into the Dublin airport in order to meet my group and take the coach (as opposed to paying for a taxi).
The first few days here have been interesting. While things here are different the people all look the same as you would find in Salt lake or anywhere else. AND to answer everyone's questions, no there are hardly any redheads that i've seen thus far. I am staying in Santry, aka Dublin 9. So it's basically like sandy to salt lake. The people here are very friendly and helpful, I am frequently stopping to ask for directions! They do not hesitate to give them either. Which is great because I get lost A LOT!
So far I've just done a lot of walking around City Centre (downtown) visiting pubs, (no i'm not drinking mom) and taking pictures of buildings I don't know the names of. Oh and the program EUSA took us out to the oldest pub in Dublin, The Brazen Head, for dinner and a story. Yes that is right we heard a true story teller give us a breif history of the famine, their food, and fairies. It was interesting to say the least. The food has been pretty good thus far. But their food is no italian cuisine! Dublin is a very pretty city, the River Liffley runs right down the middle seperating the North (uneducated/humbler) from the South (educated/snobby) or at least the story goes.
While there have been quite a few other things like my roommates and interview that I want to share they will have to wait until tomorrow night.
Becky
